FHI Tanzania is inviting applications for the position of Finance and Admin Officer to join its team in Arusha. Responsibilities

Financial Management and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping records and properly file financial documents and supporting records.
  • Manage daily financial transactions using QuickBooks or Odoo accounting systems.
  • Complete monthly financial reconciliations.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and monitor organizational cash flow.
  • Manage petty cash and maintain accurate supporting documentation.
  • Prepare and process payroll and statutory deductions.
  • Support the preparation of organizational and project budgets.
  • Assist with grant reporting and ensure compliance with donor requirements.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, forecasts, variance analyses, and internal financial summaries.
  • Liaise with banks, auditors, and donors on financial matters.

Compliance and Internal Controls

  • Ensure compliance with Tanzanian tax laws, statutory requirements, donor regulations, and FHI financial policies.
  • Support statutory compliance activities by preparing required documentation.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal financial control systems.
  • Train staff on financial procedures while promoting accountability and transparency across the organization.

Procurement and Administration

  • Manage procurement administration, including quotation comparisons, purchase documentation, and vendor records.
  • Review procurement documents to ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Support the maintenance of the organization’s asset register.
  • Provide administrative support for human resources documentation.
  • Coordinate office logistics and general administrative activities.
  • Perform other operational and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience, preferably within a non-governmental organization (NGO).
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks or Odoo accounting software.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Good understanding of Tanzanian statutory compliance requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Kiswahili.
  • CPA or ACCA professional qualification is an added advantage.
