AngloGold Ashanti is seeking a qualified and experienced professional to fill the position of Supervisor – Emergency Response at Geita Gold Mine. This role is suited to individuals with extensive emergency response and mine rescue experience who are committed to maintaining a safe working environment in accordance with international mining and occupational safety standards.

Responsibilities
- Develop emergency rescue plans for high-risk operational areas.
- Support the Emergency Response Specialist in reviewing and updating emergency response procedures.
- Coordinate disaster response and crisis management activities.
- Develop and deliver emergency response training programmes.
- Ensure competency standards for the Emergency Response Team are maintained.
- Inspect fire and rescue equipment and maintain accurate inspection records.
- Supervise daily emergency response operations, drills, and exercises.
- Participate in site-wide risk assessments and identify high-risk areas.
- Assist with medical evacuation of injured or ill employees.
- Coordinate emergency incidents requiring Emergency Response Team deployment.
- Conduct fire safety awareness sessions during pre-start and toolbox meetings.
- Recommend appropriate firefighting and rescue equipment.
- Prepare weekly and monthly emergency response reports.
- Conduct fire and rescue equipment inventory assessments.
- Monitor compliance with fire and rescue standards, including IMIU requirements.
- Monitor critical controls related to fire safety, ventilation, confined spaces, and working at heights.
- Oversee automatic fire suppression systems.
- Organize resources and conduct audits to ensure compliance with ISO 45001 requirements.
- Promote safe work practices through risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Lead containment operations during hazardous substance incidents.
- Coordinate emergency response to chemical spills, hydrocarbon leaks, and tailings failures.
- Manage firefighting foam and water usage to minimize environmental impacts.
- Supervise safe handling and disposal of hazardous emergency waste.
- Design and conduct environmental emergency response drills.
Qualifications Required
- Relevant qualification in an Emergency Services discipline at Senior Fire Fighter level or equivalent.
- Completion of Secondary School Education.
- Valid Tanzanian driving licence.
Experience Required
- Minimum of three years’ experience in emergency response within both open-pit and underground mining operations.
Knowledge and Skills
- Physical and mental fitness for emergency response duties.
- Manual vehicle driving skills.
- Knowledge of the Mining (Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Protection) Regulations, 2010, Part IV Regulation 49 on Emergency Preparedness.
- Firefighting techniques.
- Rope rescue operations.
- Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) response.
- Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) operations.
- Confined space rescue.
- Water rescue techniques.
- NOSHC certification.
- Certificate III in Mine Rescue.
