Alistair Group is seeking a Sea Freight Coordinator to oversee the complete sea freight process for both import and export shipments. The role focuses on coordinating cargo movements, managing shipping documentation, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining smooth communication with shipping lines, customs authorities, and clients to achieve timely and efficient deliveries.

This position is ideal for logistics professionals with experience in international shipping, customs procedures, and freight coordination. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring operational efficiency, controlling freight costs, resolving shipment issues, and supporting continuous improvements across sea freight operations.

Write Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end sea freight operations for import and export shipments
  • Arrange bookings with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and consolidators
  • Monitor vessel schedules, shipment milestones, and transit times
  • Coordinate loading, unloading, and container movements with ports, depots, and transport teams
  • Prepare, verify, and process shipping documents including bills of lading, manifests, commercial invoices, and packing lists
  • Ensure compliance with customs regulations, port authority requirements, and international shipping standards
  • Maintain accurate shipment records and documentation for audits and client requests
  • Provide regular shipment updates to clients, partners, and internal stakeholders
  • Coordinate with shipping lines, customs brokers, warehouse teams, and port authorities to resolve operational issues
  • Escalate shipment delays, risks, and operational exceptions to management when necessary
  • Verify freight charges, detention and demurrage costs, and port fees
  • Assist in checking supplier invoices for accuracy and compliance with agreements
  • Identify opportunities to reduce freight costs through efficient planning and carrier selection
  • Support customs clearance by providing complete and accurate documentation
  • Monitor cargo security, container condition, and compliance with hazardous cargo regulations where applicable
  • Prepare operational reports on shipment performance, delays, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Support process improvements, standard operating procedure (SOP) updates, and cross-functional team activities

  • Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in sea freight operations covering imports and/or exports
  • Strong understanding of international sea freight processes and Incoterms
  • Knowledge of customs procedures and port operations
  • Experience working with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and clearing agents
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
