The International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT) is a United Nations institution established to carry out essential functions previously performed by the International Criminal Tribunals. The Mechanism supports international justice by maintaining secure, reliable, and efficient operational facilities while delivering administrative and technical services across its offices.

Position Details

  • Position: Electrotechnical Technician – Individual Contractor
  • Location: Arusha, Tanzania

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain distributed building equipment and technical systems.
  • Conduct daily inspections of electrical power distribution systems.
  • Inspect centralized and split HVAC systems.
  • Monitor water pumps, fire pumps, control systems, generators, and automatic transfer switch (ATS) systems.
  • Maintain UPS systems, firefighting equipment, plumbing systems, elevators, and solar power installations.
  • Prepare preventive maintenance schedules and maintenance reports.
  • Process requisitions for maintenance materials and supplies.
  • Assist in identifying qualified maintenance vendors.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and equipment reconditioning.
  • Carry out plumbing, electrical, and basic office equipment repairs.
  • Perform welding, metal fabrication, and forming work.
  • Undertake minor construction work, including partition installation, lock replacement, and glass replacement.
  • Assess repair requirements and assist in preparing technical plans and specifications.
  • Supervise external contractors to ensure maintenance and construction work meets required standards.
  • Prepare progress reports on completed maintenance activities.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications Required

  • Successful completion of a high school diploma in a technical field.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in facilities management.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy.
  • Strong practical knowledge of building maintenance systems and technical infrastructure.

Language Requirements

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
  • Working knowledge of Kiswahili is desirable.
  • Knowledge of French is an advantage, as English and French are the working languages of the Mechanism.
