The successful candidate will be responsible for training and assessing underground equipment operators, coaching shift trainers and supervisors, and ensuring that all training activities align with international mining standards and operational objectives.

Responsibilities
- Train and assess underground employees on Jumbo drilling equipment operations.
- Coach operators of Jumbo, Cable Bolter, Solo Drill, Long-Hole Drill, and In-The-Hole (ITH) Drill to achieve advanced competency levels.
- Provide on-the-job coaching to Underground Shift Bosses and Shift Trainers on safe equipment operation and production practices.
- Mentor national trainers to develop specialist technical skills.
- Develop and review training modules and equipment training plans.
- Maintain and implement the underground training calendar and training matrix.
- Prepare training programmes and monitor trainee development.
- Produce regular reports on trainee performance and succession development.
- Ensure compliance with training standards, company procedures, and ethical requirements.
- Coordinate underground drilling equipment training programmes.
- Monitor all training activities for underground drilling equipment.
- Conduct operator competency assessments and skill gap analyses.
- Develop training plans to close identified competency gaps.
- Promote proper equipment operation according to OEM standards.
- Ensure compliance with Tanzanian labour legislation and company training policies.
Qualifications Required
- Recognized Training and Assessment Certificate.
- Recognized certificate in Jumbo (Sandvik DD421 or higher models) operation.
- Secondary School Certificate or higher qualification.
- Certificate in Underground Mine Blasting from a recognized institution.
- Certificate in Cable Bolter (Sandvik) and In-The-Hole (ITH) Drill operation will be an added advantage.
Experience Required
- Minimum of eight years’ experience operating Jumbo equipment in underground mining environments.
- At least two years’ experience as a Jumbo Trainer, Shift Trainer, or On-the-Job Coach.
- Experience in underground charging and blasting operations.
- Good understanding of underground mining operations and production targets.
- Leadership or supervisory experience is an advantage.
- Experience working in multicultural environments.
- Experience operating Cable Bolter and In-The-Hole (ITH) drilling equipment is an added advantage.
Knowledge and Skills
- Valid Class B/D and G/F Tanzanian driving licence or international equivalent.
- Licensed or certified Jumbo operator.
- Knowledge of Tanzanian mining legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to operate Jumbo equipment according to OEM standards.
- Ability to interpret mine instructions, geotechnical plans, and engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of operator-level equipment maintenance.
- Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles in underground mining environments.
- Knowledge of underground charging and blasting procedures.
- Experience in operator training, assessment, and competency development.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of Cable Bolter, Solo Drill, and ITH drilling equipment.
